Is this a good place to get into Chess?

Thanks.
I don't expect to become amazing or anything but I thought it would be a fun hobby
Yes it is. The other thing you can do on premium is analyze your games and have no ads - in short everything

When I was younger I used to play Chess a bit and I played a city tournament once for it, didn't win overall but won a few games.
Anyway, I know how the pieces work but I could obviously do with tactics for playing, if you look on my profile you'll see my rank is pretty bad right now.
I noticed on here there is a "learn" feature, I was just wondering how good this feature is if anyone uses it?
I also have the premium version of Magnus Trainer on my phone because it was quite cheap, I'm on a free trial of this at the moment but I might see if I can scrape a bit of money together if the learn/analysis features appear to be worth the money.
Thanks in advance.

If you wish, you can use it as a guide for improvement. I hope it will be useful to you. Have a nice day.

If he's not we will share and help him out, no?
Huh? Sorry I am confused by this message

Haha, yes it does. I don't really watch football anymore but for some reason it's just my default username to go to.

It was the answer to the post before mine. @SocialistEgypt It was obviously an ill attempt of a joke on his username and avatar. Anyway, in the post I've linked I described what did I do to improve. You can do it to.

Haha, thank you for the post, sorry I'm just a bit slow at jokes today.
At the moment I kinda of just place the same sort of opening as in just taking the center and getting knights/bishops out from the back rank and then castling because I'd rather not go into all of the thousands of openings in chess lmao

You shouldn't learn openings. Opening principles will do. I wrote one post on it the other day, so if you feel like it:
https://www.chess.com/blog/nklristic/surviving-the-opening-first-steps-to-chess-improvement
This is all you need to know about openings in the beginning. Later on you will gradually build up on it, but certainly don't memorize one billion lines, your opponents will not play the best moves even if you do, so it will not be of much use.

Haha, nice, I work for them now lmao

Hello!
Some of the lessons are realy good, some of them (at least the videos) not so good, but overall I think they are okay. One of the strongest features here I belive is the Puzzle Rush section. It's realy good. I like it that not only you can do timed ones (how much u can solve in a given time) but the survivor version is realy good for getting better in tactics. You get more-and more stronger puzzles every time you solve one, but you can think as long as u like. (If you stop, and leave you can continue later)
About the chess community here, its a mixed bag. There are plenty of **sh*l*s, and trolls out there, ( I disabled chat in games because of that), bad sports, who let the clock run, or after the 20th moves they lost completely they starting to play perfectly etc, but you can ignore the players you dont like, so it's not that bad. The biggest let-down for me, is the playing itself here. Sometimes you have to wait quite long if you dont wanna play the time that most people wanna play, even worse, if you wanna play unrated games. (other chess sites matches games way better, and faster, yes even unrated ones)
But there are good people here too, who can give you advice what books you should use for learning, what program, applications are good etc.
So summarizing up, this site is better for learning and improving than for playing, and after you learn how to use certain options around here, it's gonna be even better.
I would say, it's an okay place if you want to be around chess.
