I, too, would like to know if swatting deer flies is commiting murder.  Man! I hate those buggers.  They are probably the only critter that I really enjoy killing.

This format was a dud IMO.  Who would have predicted G and G huh?  I hope Anand crushes the winner :)

Unfortunately for him, a World Champion must know to play with the Black pieces too. And he did not even dominate, Grischuk missed good opportunities to win as Black in game 4, for example.

Anyway, what can one expect from a player who takes draws after 14 and then 8 moves, prefering to go into blitz games? Everybody knew that Grischuk was a better blitz player. Kramnik apparently didn't know. Or he forgot.

I guess I shouldn't let the draws color my perception of it all but... I guess I never thought of Gelfand or Grischuk as WC contenders really.  Well maybe Grischuk who is still young and at least top 10 type of strength sure, but in my mind somehow not top 5... does that make sense?  :)

In Gelfand's case I thought he was on his way down from Olympus, but I guess that would make his WC prospects that much more exciting (even though I'm bias towards Anand )

It feels kind of like we drew names out of a hat. As I said earlier about tournaments, the final rounds to decide who goes to the championship should be the same format as the championship itself.

Interesting. It seems Anand does well against the two finalists, but that does not mean much in my estimation, as they will have plenty of time to prepare for one opponent.

One thing that has been supported by the Candidates matches, is that the prime for a world class chess player could be between 25-45 years old!

Yes. Last week I beat some guy who had brought his own, "This is a $300.00 stick", in a 3 out of 5 match!

Game one of the finals has reached time control, and Grischuk has what many people(including stockfish) "think" is a winning end game! Pretty amazing! I can't be here for the conclusion, but it is a really good game to watch

That was a good game! It appears to have had everyone guessing! Well, Boris Gelfand with the white pieces in less than 12hours. I wonder if these guys ever drink the night before a game?
