No one in the forums answers post. There just seems to be snark and bad faith questions but no answers.
As a new person I can only assume that this community is toxic.
I've seen countless of people helped and guided. Sometimes there's a clown that gets mocked but these things happen.
Hi, don't call other people clowns. That isn't mature behavior.
Unless they're real, card-carrying clowns; Then it's OK.
Nothing but sandbaggers and cheaters.
I wouldn't know, I don't really play chess here. I just have wonderful forum conversations with thoughtful, deep thinkers...

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better, but it's pretty delusional.
I think there are some positives and some negatives:
Positives = big community, active forums, lots of resources, easy to find games, nice rating system (way better than FIDE), well designed website, generally positive community, friendly and reasonable mods/admins.
Negatives = you have to pay money for the full experience, the forums are full of kids and immature people, there aren't many high level discussions for serious competitive players, it's too tough to find slow time control games against high rated opponents (like 30min+ games against 2000+ rated opponents who aren't engines), the live rapid tournaments are unplayable because there's always some cheater with an engine.
@deranged forums are usually full of kids.
