Sometimes you just lose too many pawns/pieces. What's your favorite strategy or mindset to keep fighting when you're behind? Looking for tips to stay positive and tricky! ☺️

I just do random ahhh moves until I find something or I make a plan on the spot

Looking at your rating maybe it be best that you try and blunder less and not to resign in a losing position

It’s called improvising

Haha, “random ahhh moves” until something sticks! I totally get the improvising part sometimes you just have to feel the game out, right?

That’s a fair point! You’re right, working on reducing blunders is definitely key at any rating level. And you’ve hit on something important learning not to resign too early is a skill in itself. I’m trying to focus on staying resilient and looking for those tricky counter-chances even when things seem lost. Thanks for the reminder to keep pushing and learning from every game!

You have to have something to fight for. If you're just dead in the water, resign. A couple weeks ago at the chess club, an opponent caught me napping and my queen was suddenly trapped. But, I was already up a couple pieces, so I fought on, got a couple more pieces for the queen and had two rooks and two bishops against a queen. In about ten moves his king was in mate. Other times, I'm just down a pawn or two but can see the end coming. It's done. There's nothing left to fight for, unless you're playing someone so dumb that they might stalemate you.

Why do you think everything is like ai? It's as if only artificial intelligence can talk and understand!!!

Totally agree you only resign when there’s really no fight left. “Dead in the water” is exactly the moment where resigning makes sense!

Definitely sounds like ai. But I'm a cartoon red panda from the internet, so I am just as likely to be ai, myself.

I agree with Doctor Sputnik. You need something to fight for. If you are down a few pawns or a piece but with a superior position, you should absolutely keep playing. But if your situation is hopeless, it's best to resign and respect both your and your opponent's time.

That said, if you are a beginner, don't ever resign because there's a very good chance your opponent will blunder just like you did. You learn more from playing on than resigning at the first sign of trouble.
