Looking at the front page, i think the answer is:

1. Be4, Be8; 2. Qe7, Kg8; 3. Qg7#

how do you move Be4,without moving pawn first?

The puzzle shows up in the front page of chess.com.

Again, for those joining in, the puzzle shows up in the front page of chess.com under "Daily Puzzle", but not when you click in.

How about: 1)Bh5, Ke6; 2) Bg6, ...; 3) Qe7#  or 3) Qd5#  Anyone see a problem with that?

True, but promoting a pawn makes some sort of sense. Why did black do BE8 in your solution?

Got it!!!  Checkmate in 3:  1.pe4, pf6; 2.pd4, pg5; 3. Qh5 CHECKMATE!

pawn g6,puts end to that idea

pawn is already on g5 .. XD

It's white to move.

ranrod: If white does Be4, why doesn't black promote the g-pawn to a queen?

• #36

Puzzle: White begins and wins!!!

I was wrong about that.  My new theory is:

1)Bh5, Ke6; 2) Bg6, ...; 3) Qe7#  or 3) Qd5# (depending on black's responce)

Exactly... I was wrong.  My new theory is also wrong (1)Bh5, Ke6; 2) Bg6, ...; 3) Qe7#  or 3) Qd5#).

Anyone has the answer?  It's kind'a driving me crazy.
