Glad to see I wasn't the only one looking at the smothered mate angle.
Disgruntled_Sheep you cant get this mate, i guess you rely on putting queen right beside the black king right? well, you hoped the ladder eats it whereas KING will take it and no one protects the queen

I wonder if there is some free coach here in chess.com. This puzzle is way out of my league.
Every honest chess player would prefer a queen sac followed by a smothered mate. This version is lacking the aesthetic quality.

But the Knight prevents the King from capturing the Queen.
