    Ah well, good one.

    Not as efficient, but prettier is smothered mate:

    1. Qd6+ Ka8

    2.Nc7+ Kb8  3.Na6+ (double check) Ka8

    4.Qb8+ RxQ

    5. Nc7++

    other way: 1. Qd6+ Ka8 2. Nc7+ Kb8 3. Na6+ Ka8 4. Qb8+! Rxb8 5. Kc7#

    I think you mean 5. Nc7# :)

    What's wrong with using smothered mate in 5? So it takes one move longer, so what? How is that incorrect? Someone explain that to me, I think it's absurd.

    Because it says mate in 4 not just mate in general. It's not wrong in a real game it's just not following directions

    I think that was the point of this puzzle. To look at all combinations
