Others may have pointed this out, but:
    1. ...       Kh8
    2. Qxf8+  Ng8  (2, Qxf8 was not mate)

Someone else   (icfseth) pointed out that
    1. ...    Ng6  protects against 2. Qxf8

i do believe there is a forced mate/smothered mate with 1.Qxf7 Kh8, 2. Qxf8 Ng8 3. Nf7# and if black holds on by playing Neg6 but then white does h6 and its lights out for black

But it wasn't 1.Qxf7 - it was 1.Qxe7, and black has better responses than 1....Kh8
