1/31/2013 - Mate in 7

The king should take the rook not the bishop, then when black gains a queen, you push to gain your own checkmate.  Not only that on move 6 black just walked right into the checkmate.  Overall a poor puzzle

Unfortunately, 4.Kxg4 does not lead to mate in 7 as stipulated, e.g.
1. g7+ Kh7 2. Kg5 Rf4 3. Be6 Rg4+ 4. Kxg4 Kxh6 5. g8=Q a1=Q 6. Qg5+ Kh7 7. Bf5+ Kh8 8. Qh6+ Kg8 9. Be6#

Also, Black's 6...Kh7 is forced.

Overall a poor analysis.

that was niiiccccceeeee

nice one

This puzzle leaves some questions ...

... most important: Why couldn't I solve it?

useless black queen

nyc ...

Awesome

Nice puzzle.

way too easy :)

cool

Another line I looked at was

1. g7+  Kh7
2. Kg5  Rf4
3. Be6  Rf8
4. gxf8=Q a1=Q
5. Bf5#

A really nicely balanced position, ideal for a puzzle. If this had come from a game, it would be interesting to see what blacks last few moves were, and whether they were too eager to promote, or if the position was always lost...

I sort of stumbled into solving this one after making a couple of wrong moves. I never would have got this in a real game.

cool puzzle

nice

really nice close call :D

hoohoo....

Nice Puzzle....solved it though.
