What about 1. Bf5, Bxf5 2. Kxf5... Black is sure to lose, yes?

Nah this is dumb. If Black had played 2... Bxd3 white's strategy would have gone to pieces. They will the hanging rook piece which is the biggest threat to a mate and pin down the knight, giving them sufficient time to promote a pawn
