    If not, he might:  1...Kg8

    What then?  Seems to me White lacks the requisite munitions.

     1...Kg8 ?    Hmm..doesn't white play as before:  2.Nxf6+  Kf7   3.Qg6#    Also in 3 moves ! Have I missed anything ?

    I didn't see the accepted solution to this one straight away until I noticed the mate threat at Qxf1, then the penny dropped: It has to be check in every move.
