Another one of those Smothered mates now..
Zapped it in one try.
yeewas up is right there are different ways of solving
The classic smother!!! Got to love it!!!
beautiful smothered mate, but too well-known to be challenging.
Excellent! Not easy to see but very logical once you do.
What is this mating net called ? It's a classic :)
usually these puzzles are well thought out, but i seem to see another mate in 5, is there anything wrong with:
not saying that this puzzle isn't well thought out
I had the same idea, but then I was brought to realise that the black king wasn't obliged to go to the corner, and if it goes Kf8 instead, there are no useful checks anymore.
the elementary smothered mate always good to see
And yet another one that doesn't see what happens after Kf8..
Checkmate by the white queen is a "useful check"
yeewassup: the given solution was the traditional smothered mate, but your alternative was highly creative!!!
It's just a question of whether you want to win in style!
this is the mate i saw in my head, but i didnt see the other one...
8 ball in the corner pocket! aka. Paul Morphy! The ole' famous Smothered Mate. Thanks for the lesson!
