I'm still new to this, but how was that mate in 3? Maybe my counting is off. :)
Why is the title Mate in 3?
The puzzle is changing. Before this puzzle it is mate in three, now the title didn't change, but the puzzle change.
You can see the first page telling the pawn power, telling it use pawn.
Nice Morphy's mate, sadly they never work in actual games... at least for me.
pulled this motiff off in live chess....elegant !
Seen this before
Very misleading title.... how on earth is this a mate in 3?
"Mate in 3" through me off a bit.
Why is this puzzle labled "Mate in 3?"
Mate in 5!
Mate in 5 tbh
Yeah it's mate in 5. I could've sworn we have seen this daily puzzle more than once too...
uh...mate in 3?
wrong solution, its a steelmate in 3 like we have seen a thousand thimes, but the solution is mate in 5...
fun one, even if it wasnt very hard
I suppose that after the third move the smothered mate pattern is just automatic...though I suspect that the first-pagers are talking about a different problem than the one I got.
Name of the puzzle- Mate in 3.
Actual puzzle- Mate in 5.
What gives? I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out how there could possibly be a mate on move 3.
Why does the title say Mate in 3 when it takes 5 moves to achieve the smothered mate?
