Mate in 3 takes 5 moves according to the puzzle????
Easy but not a mate in 3 as the title claims.
Not # in 3 but 5 !
I believe this is known as a "smothered mate." It appears frequently in chess puzzle books.
After Qe6,Kh8Qg8+,R:g8Nf7# isn't this mate in 3 then?Or are the titles and puzzle mixed up?
Mate in 3? looked like a mate in 5
Name of the puzzle- Mate in 3.
Actual puzzle- Mate in 5.
What gives? I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out how there could possibly be a mate on move 3.
There is a mate in 3 just not showed here on this puzzle,...
Nice, but is mate in 5, not 3
A classic mating net, the Smothered Mate. Five is not three.
