Yeah I don't get this puzzle. Why not 1. Bf5+, Nxf5 2.Rc2 (any move) 3. Rh2#?
Instead of 1. ... Nxf5?, 1. ... Ng4 looks like a tougher defence. Then 2. Bxg4+ allows 2. ... Kxg3, and 2. Rxg4 is met by 2. ... Rf8, and White can't get a safe discovered check.
The move which first occured to me was 1.Bf5+..which also i think leads to mate in 3 moves..
But i think, with 1.Bg2+ black can still hang on to the game...Can anybody clarify the related variation above ?
Nice deflection and subsequent chase.
You're right that using the knight to block is better for Black but White does still get a mate but in 5 or 6 moves instead - here are all the ones I've found so far ...
But Black can still postpone mate until 6 moves.
I'am going to kill anyone who is whinning about the tough puzzle. This should be the normal standard's of puzzles. It gives such a joy to solve such puzzles so do try hard peeps if you seek the beuaty in chess
Yes I agree. mate in 5 is better than mate in 6.
[COMMENT DELETED] XD
Harder than most of them.
I am not an experienced player, but as a black i would eat the white rock at the first move of this puzzle.
That's the way uh huh,uh huh I like it-Nice puzzle
It Took A While:) Thanks chess.com
if white moves rook to c2; then black would take it with knight.
Which would result in white playing 2 Bg2# or 2 Bf5#.
