1. Qc3 Kb1 2. Qd3+ Ka1 3. Qd4 Kb1 4. Qe4+ Ka1 ... 10. Qh7+ Ka1 11. Qh8 Kb1 12. Qh1#. All Black's moves are forced.

PrachiBS

Kc2, black force move b1 then 0-0 (Qbi)...bingo! check & mate

chaotic_iak

1. Kc2? b1=Q 2. Qxb1 axb1=Q! and White is losing.

In my opinion chaotic_iak made exact sequence. Really nice puzzle,i love it. I hope that Endgamestudy can still publish studies like this, they are amazing!

FortunaMajor

You can also play,

1.Kc2 b1=N 2. Qb2#

Danieletar

lol, b1 promotes to queen and from a loss it wins!

FortunaMajor

If Black, promotes it to a knight, white wins.

chaotic_iak

Since it's an endgame study, you should assume best play by Black. Which in this case is to promote to queen, not knight.

FortunaMajor

Unless he's an engine, black can make a blunder... happy.png

Positions like these usually never arise in a real game anyway.
