Help Anyone....Help !....Can I Draw ?
Still lost: 1. b6 axb6 2. a6! and queens on a8. But ... after 2. axb6? Kxb6 it is a (fairly complicated) draw.
Also, you cannot get to the position in the diagram as white can play b6 earlier to prevent it.
My idea was to somewhow get my King to c5....IOW's, try to make it look like this:
In your continuation white can play b6 immediately after ... c5. After trading or pushing, the c4 pawn drops and promotion/mate are unavoidable.
If it reached your position, b6 still works. After b6 axb6, white will promote after a6.
IDK about that....if white plays a6, then black plays c3. In a pawn race, black gets a queen w/ check.
But the question is is can black force the position in #23 ?
I know I'm really reaching here, but something tells me there may be an abstract hidden draw in here.
I don't think you can reach your desired position, but even if you did white will not play a6 as it is clearly worse than b6. The white King can stop the c pawn at its leisure because whatever happens there is always the passed d5 pawn. The pawns on the a,b and c files are massively in whites favour anyway but even if you imagine the position with no pawns on these files, which would be better for black than as it stands, white is still winning because of the d5 pawn. The white King will force the black King away from d6 by opposition and bring the d pawn home. It is lost, let it die chick!
Okay. Okay. But pleez understand that I wasn't trying to prove that I could get a daw. I was trying to get someone to prove to me that I was forced to lose. So I TY........
But I'll only let it go if I can get IM Impractical to chime in. I'm gonna go try to find him now.
Endgames are not about getting an authority in, or an Authority or an AUTHORITY. It is about understanding the analysis given to you. When you do, you will know the outcome of this endgame and no authority will ever change your mind about it. This is not a difficult endgame and it requires no master power.
