There are TWO fundamental things to get better at chess:

1. Play and analyze. Check your games carefully with Stockfish.

2. Solve puzzles daily, or on a very regular. I've been doing this for years and I can spot simple tactics without effort now. This alone will put you in a much higher category.

You can do a lot more things to get better. YouTube alone is an insane treasure trove. The probably best single source is GM Naroditskys speedruns.

Also, as long as you are a lowly sub-1000, do not touch blitz or bullet. You cannot learn from these time controls. You need time to THINK. At absolute minimum play 10|0, but even that might be too fast.

I can't even get to 600. Got to 545 rapid but then almost 100 points down just few days later.
