About one year.

Learnt the rules when I was a little kid but started to play seriously exactly one year ago, at the "late" age of 15.

12 years i think...

Restarted recently. Hope to relight my fire..

Cogwheel show some respect. Call me (or zap or bleep me as it will probably be called by then) when you're 80 and rated in the 1600's (or higher). I doubt that ping will ever come. 

Cogwheel, think you're missing the point. I can't think of any examples of an 80 year-old being able to play at the same level as when he was 24.

@cogwheel. Some people play chess casually with no intent to mprove or get better.

I started clubplay at 10 and played some 10 years. Then a 30 year break...until recently...

i started playing at 5 so 31 years now...if only i have been training all this time maybe i'd be better than a C player.  can't wait until i retire when i will have time to study and improve.
