Accused of cheating. What do you think?

This is my first post ever to chess.com after playing for a while now. So, I just finished playing this game with a bro rated way higher than me. Towards the end of the game I asked him 'Why bother playing on?' and he said 'You have to win.' I thought that was an excellent reply. He shouldn't just let me win. Espeially considering I'm rated well under him

Immediately after that, he accused me of using an engine. Honestly, I think he just played very poorly. An early blunder I think put him off his game and he didn't like how the rest of it played out. What does chess.com think? Am I dirty, rotten cheater, and a liar to boot?

note: I didn't mean to center align everything. not sure how to fix it but whatever.

Nice-game!

Thanks for posting.

I think gnomes are secretly mischievous hackers.

Dont worry about others telling you are a cheater, unless you use an engine.

13...Nxc3 (i.s.o Qxe7?) would have saved your opponent a lot of trouble.

I've read this often around and I'm wondering... to what end should one use an engine on a place like chess.com? It doesn't really make any sense to me... not even if one "beats" an IM a day here gains anything at all, so... why should one bother? Well... I'm a sw eng. so maybe I'm not an expert in human behaviour, but it really seems total nonsense to me.

Math0t

Yeah, and your opponent probably was annoyed because he played some bad moves. Some feel the need to accuse the opponent when they play bad.

Nothing to worry about. Just take it as a compliment for your excellent play Smile

yep Wink

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Really, it's kinda flattering when someone accuses me of cheating. Also, in response to Nxc3, that would undoubtedly be the best in this scenario. Fortunately, it still wins me that d5 pawn. Not as definitive as the move played, but still a nice advantage to have. I think the short time control coupled with his frustrated/panicky decision-making gave me the edge.

For the record, I never use an engine. I don't even own one. Actually, let me back that up, I have Stockfish for my iPad (but i play on my iPad so I couldn't have used it at the same time) and I have Chessmaster 10 somewhere around here. Chessmaster re-taught me the basics. In my experience, great program for learning. Cheers, everyone!

After 14....qxd7?? Which is gross blunder that drops the n at e4. That was too obvious. Real uscf 2038 orb players simply don't make mistakes like that unless they are on drugs, drunk or suffering a brain seizure.

Where is the correct place for black-Q after 14.Nxd5 then Transpo?

What would you play... Smile

ElKitch

well played game indeed!

Better to lose the exchange n for r rather whole n for no compensation. Duh!?

14....qe8 or 14....qe6 if 15.nc7 qe7

Right. The only time you would need to worry about accusations of cheating is if you were, in fact, cheating.

You still haven't said where you're placing your Q?

Which is under-attack after all...

So what are you playing move-14 then??

I edited my post. Take a look

So after scathingly deriding the played-move of Qe7. Your brilliant-suggestion is Qe8 instead?

That still 'drops'' the knight does it not??

(What use is losing rook & knight with your Qd6 suggestion)

Black messed-up badly in this game but white played fluently (especially with the pawns) so nice game to look at. No cheating here of course. That goes without saying...

I want to run this game through an engine to check my thoughts, but on first glance I see several spots for you to improve (I don't actually think you should have simplified when you did)... I guess I'm saying: it's looks to me like if you'd used an engine you would have thrashed him even harder than you did, and you thrashed him pretty good.

He played under what I expect from a 2000+ player on live chess... 12...Ne4 is pretty hard to understand. But we all have horrible games.

Good stuff from you. I like your annotations, too.

*Edit* I just started looking at this with Fritz, and before I'm even 25% through it is very clear you are not cheating. Unless you have some magic thought cannon that beams bad moves into your opponent's head? You don't have that, do you?

*edit 2* and lol 12...Ne4 isn't so bad at all according to the silicone wizard -- he needed to follow up 13.Bxe7 Nxc3! and he'd be ok. (was this already discussed?)
