black side.. what do you think?

The opening you played is called "The Sicilian Defense". It is hardly a weird opening, it's in the top 3 or 5 openings Grandmasters use against 1:e4. It has been studied in quite the depth. Many of its lines are wayyyy to sharp for beginners. For you I'd suggest French which is 1:e4, 1:e6 for black.

So it's not new. You still did well to create and win with it. I think you may have an instinctive feel for it. I'd read up on it, if I were you.

Good work.

As this defence was first analysed in 1594 (Wiki) and is certainly one of Black's most common replies to 1.e4, it's astonishing you've not heard of it. Have you been living in a parallel dimension until now where chess does not exist? happy.png

I think he's talking about the move c3... that's the delayed alapian, something like that.

A very weird opening indeed and what a huge surprise that it's working.

Chess is like life, it always surprise us. I never expected that a weird move like 1...c5 could work so well against 1.e4.

What's next? 1...c6 might be good too against 1.e4? No way!!!

If c6 works e6 might too ! We are going to transform opening theory !

Groundbreaking news indeed. It's the end of the world as we know it.

I have an idea as well, I call it the "symmetric defense." if 1.e4 is such a good move, then why isn't 1... e5 ?
