I actually like playing early f4 and c4's - they're hard pawns to attack and give a nice anchor in the center. You might find the 1. f4 d5 2. c4 gambit interesting.
Your opponent didn't play play particularly well, but you certainly made him pay for it!
Never did I think that after playing 1. c4 would I play 4. f4. And yet, that is exactly what happened. What ensued was a highly tactical game where both Kings were left somewhat unguarded. Alas, I was the victor, but it could have gone either way.
