I think Maurice Ashley is throwing a big tournie in LA later on this year with an EF at a staggering $1,000.

Poker requires more skill than chess. The chance factor does not contribute to the outcome if u are skilled because u either fold bad hands or u capitalise on it via bluffing which is a skill in itself. Ive studied chess and poker in depth and on the whole poker is more difficult as it requires multifacted skills whereas chess essentially requires computation only. Both games are great though

to say the entrance fee is out of line is demonstrably false given that the attendance numbers at those price points are really, really good.

$10.00 to see a movie is ridiculous to me as well, and nothing you can say would demonstrate that it isn't.

$10 dollars just to see a movie or $10 dollars to use a speacial room with surrounding dolby atoms sound and soft comfortable chair in warm environment , with clean air etc........

I think it’s completely fair that players in a tournament would win prize money for their skill and effort, and the entry fees are one of the ways that is possible. Otherwise it would have to be purely on sponsorship.

Nope, people are entering those tournaments sometimes, one who exercised the most is usually the winner, but, the prize anyway is used to pay for some of the meal or housing, or buy a house, but if they win big it get harder to exercise, because it's what people eat.  If you want to become 1st again, somewhat reasonable level, pay taxes, keep some of prizes, and try to exercise again.  Animals, nature recognize if they win big nature know how much money they've got if some begger on the street comes up to them ask for money, then they know.  What does chess entrants get some amount of health benefit by losing, if the 1st place decide to exercise again.  Most of 1st place winners, 1 time champ and never come back.  One who exercised most is usually, keep animals and plant grow and be happy. H20 -> collides H2O2, O2, O3, H2, Plants grow stronger with H2O2
