A horrible move!

A pretty little win in blitz here - which I spoiled, but my opponent didn't take advantage...

Such is 3 0 without increment - this isn't really chess, and thanks to <TheSonofSorrow> for pointing that out on another thread.

Strangemover

Fun game. I find it's always difficult to resist gobbling material, especially at fast time controls.

I know - isn't that so? That rook on h8 almost got stuck in my throat though...

nice game

solskytz

Thanks :-)

You escaped by a tiny margin. That mate is very cool

solskytz

#7 - Thanks! :-)

#6 - My opponent had the narrowest window of opportunity to inflict a beautiful mate. Once gone, as happens all too often - there was never a second chance...

Indeed, a smothered mate is a lovely conclusion to any game. It occurs much more frequently than people think... :-) especially in blitz.

By the way,Would you like a match? Say like 6 games

solskytz

What kind of time control?

Brb2023bruhh

Whatever you please! 3 0 is fine for me

solskytz

#11 sounds good! We need to find the time of course...

Phriex

Indeed it is sooo easy to blunder like that in blitz. It was still an interesting (and well payed by you) game before that.

It's a pleasure to see your input on my pages, <IM Pfren>! :-) I wish you graced more of my threads with your valuable commentary.

By the way, what do you think about 19...Qc4+ 20. Kb1 Nb4 and now 21. Qd4?

Black already has two pieces for the rook, the white king is vulnerable as well, and the d-file looks a bit ominous - but on the other hand, the Bf8 doesn't have an obvious way to get out with tempo - and meanwhile we are threatening a horrible check on h4 with that queen!!

Of course had I seen and understood a4! I wouldn't necessarily go for the piece sacrifice on g5 - except that it was fun to develop with tempo - part of the adrenaline rush of 3 0 blitz !!! :-)

<Phriex> Thanks for your input as well - it's also a pleasure to read you every time you comment on my games!!

QueensKnightOut

I'm sure I don't need to point this out, but Black's error was on move 9. He needed to play Nb6. Well known theoretical line.

solskytz

....Nb6 has its own pitfalls. The line he played was perfectly all right.

Cherub_Enjel

The angle of the queen check was a bit weird, which is probably why such a common pattern was missed ...Qc2+ looks very "natural", while ...Qf5+ is a horizontal move, and less "attacking".

Had the queen been on h6, I doubt he/she would've missed this.

solskytz

Of course, <Cherub>!

This is a recurring theme in my writings - the very well known "invisible diagonal check". You cut right to the point!

Do you mean #10? We can find a time if you want to play the match easily.Just friend me if you want to play

solskytz

I have similar experiences and similar views, <IM Pfren>.

<SilentPain25> It says that you're not receiving friend requests - but you are welcome to friend me.

By the way - I now notice that we've already played six games :-) You won three and lost three.

Brb2023bruhh

Yup :) I guess that was separated games in live chess and not A MATCH :)
