Muzychuk defeats Hou Yifan//and Ushenina too

Sort:
pdela

by the way, Hou Yifan lost again today, and I don't know how many losses had sum up in the tournament, I do not know if she is out of shape or just reserving herself for September, but it seems strange to see her sharing 8th position the only two behind her are weaker players

trysts

I like that the others gave Yifan Hou some resistence in this tournament. It will make everyone betterSmile

Hou really hasn't developed the way it seemed as if she might do back in 2008 when she was 2578. Now almost five years later she is 2594 after this tournament. Of course she is a great player but far from a new Judit Polgar.

Yeaah, can't wait! :)

Hou Yifan is four years younger than Muzychuk, is changing her opening repertoire and her style to fit the more competitive nature of the +2600 crowd, and had a single poor tournament. Muzychuk just had a great tournament and didn't pass Hou Yifan.

I expect Hou Yifan to surpass this plateau soon and break 2650 in the next 18 months. She could go even higher! Others her age had similar plateaus including Anish Giri and Hikaru Nakamura. This is nothing to worry about in the long run.

I still think Hou Yifan is the most likely female to surpass Polgar's record. But that's a tremendous record to catch. Maybe the person to break her record hasn't emerged yet?
