There's a guy Sergey Karjakin who made GM at 12.
There's also some guy named Magnus Carlsen who broke 2800 elo at 18.

What relevance does it have, whether he's on the site or not?? The thread is about age and one's level. I just pointed out that Karjakin made GM at 12.
Is the purpose to drive everybody but 0.0000001% of the population into depression and despair?
I'm 41 years old. I play at around FIDE 2050 level, and I'm very happy and proud to be there - as ten years ago my playing strength was only around 1900, and before that it was never higher than 1800s.
If you always find joy and pleasure in the game, and can even keep improving, which is never an easy task - then you play very well for your age, indeed!

That doesn't mean guy on here isn't good. He didn't ask "Are you the best ever, for your age?"
im probably not even good for someone twice my age. I bet 99 year old chessplayers would beat the hell out of me. Probably 6 year olds could beat me too.
