Arenas need protections against new accounts
I would probably advise putting this post in https://www.chess.com/club/cheating-forum, you can discuss how to solve the problem there.
Should this problem, which I see in every Arena, not be an open discussion? I'll cross post it there but I see no reason why this discussion should be in a closed forum.
3 min standard Arena that is wrapping up right now has 5 of the top 6 players as brand new accounts. 4 made in the last day and one that's a month old with a 70% win rate in 1800s.
It's getting tiresome to see the 8 of the top 10 accounts in the Arena standings are accounts made the same day, with almost 100% win percentages and 80-90 accuracy ratings for every game the account has played.
Truly new players do not need access to arenas, the paywall clearly isn't working, and anyone switching from another chess site who is interested will have no problem waiting for the criteria, similar to how other online games with rated playlists work. Arenas need to have certain criteria before an account is allowed to participate. I see a few potential options:
1. An account must be of a certain age before it can participate. E.g. 1 week old, 1 month old, etc. However, I see this being countered by people creating accounts and sitting on them until they reach the appointed age.
2. An account must have played a certain amount of games before participating. E.g. 50 games, 100 games, etc. in the time control of that arena. Aborts don't count, and resignations under a certain amount of moves should not count either, similar to Player League rules.
