People who boast about their rating records

Sort:

I find it pretty shallow.

Especially when the SAME POSTER does that ALL THE TIME.

Okay. We understood. You're a grea-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-t player. Isn't it time you challenge Stockfish?

And who exactly cares that you broke your record by ANOTHER seven points?

It's just so boring, come on! Write about something creative - some opening analysis - even some good trolling.

And especially when it's BLITZ rating.

We know that blitz is only for shallow-minded people.

People who have never really outgrown the earliest stages of infancy.

Blitz blocks your development. It shuts down your brains. Even Fischer said that it kills ideas.

One can never learn how to REALLY play chess just by these silly speed games!

Besides, online rating counts for nothing. For all we know, you may be actually 1300 (and no offense to decent OTB 1300 players, who would outplay you any day of the week).

I mean, is there really a point to just playing the mouse and simply winning because the opponent needed another second to mate you? Grow up!

That's it. I feel better now :-)

And then writing a SECOND comment on your own thread, just so that it appears on "most recent posts" and attracts some ATTENTION.

Some people will really stop at nothing.

By the way - for several years my "best win" (it's only the highest-rated player you beat, even if you were down five queens and on the brink at the time, after misplacing and blundering every piece on the board) was someone rated mid-2200s - and this is no longer the case.

At that time, that "best win" was generally around 300-350 points higher than my own placement - and seemed almost unbelievable that I beat someone so strong - and this is also no longer the case.

It's also nice when you STOP playing after coming down somewhat from your new rating record - but you're STILL rated above 2100... :-) and that's also a first.

So... this is self satire? Or your password was stolen, or what?

Not only do you post the 2nd comment to your topic, but:

Yes, man - I was looking for an original angle with which to present my newest rating record

2113

(why is there no 'align center' button?)

(EDIT: it's 2116 already...)

And to please you further - here (Edit: not really here... at the end the game migrated of its own free will to comment #6 - my apologies to the keen reader) is a nice effort from tonight - my newest "best win" - which actually isn't QUITE as bad as I make it appear on post #two of this page... check it out!

lol, well, I have to say that was unexpected.

Glad I could help with the intro

solskytz

I beat this strong player in twenty-nine moves, in a very convincing fashion.

Of course he made a mistake - ...c4 was the wrong way to go - but of course, nobody ever loses without erring at some point...

"Twenty nine moves" sends me back to another game I rather famously played on this website - a game I strangely lost to a very anonymous guy, from Norway I think, whose name I forget.

For some reason, this game lingers in memory...

Now tell me, dear reader - which game is the prettier? The one you see here, or the one just above? :-)

I'm really curious...

solskytz

<Binary> DEFINITELY thanks for your help!

Otherwise - nobody would ever notice this topic!!! :-)

If you insert a diagram (not a game) then delete it you can get the center alignment / justification. Don't know how to do it otherwise.

I think that this stopped working in the last week or so... :-)

<Jokerstar> I'm still drunken as I read your comment - so what answer do you expect? :-)

I consider submitting your comment to the "best comment of the year" contest.

14...e4 black is just better...

solskytz

That's what I was saying, Robert. Didn't you notice how I praise his game just until move fourteen?

BlunderLots

Pretty awesome that you played Magnus. Even though you lost—bravo! :D

solskytz

Thanks :-)

solskytz

Who is Yuri?

I'm not an expert on the Alekhine, and I never saw 6. g3 in this position... so I don't know how to start discussing it.

2. e5?? is funny.

solskytz

It keeps creeping up... Nobody can stop it!

New record: 2116
