Where did you get your degree in psychology, any of you? I am constantly reading these psychological analyses by know nothings who sit in their rocking chairs picking their noses and spouting psychological jargon. Fischer quit chess for the same reason that Reuben Fine quit chess and Gary Kasparov, because the Soviet Union had taken over the FIDE and refused to give Fischer his just due. Fine and Kasparov both made the same complaints about the FIDE. Fischer's demands were not any different from the demands given to previous and future world chess champions.
Well IMO FIDE got exactly what they wanted They knew that at that time no one could get the title away from Fischer in a match so if we refuse his demands and hold out long enough he will go away. Lets face it Fide was then and still is a corrupt organization.

Still irrelevant. If FIDE was that corrupt, Fischer could have done exactly what Kasparov would do later in the same type of situation: break away from FIDE.
Some people seem to think that because Fischer's situation was "unjust", that his actions were therefore correct/acceptable...to walk away and pretend he was still world champion for the rest of his life. They weren't. Two wrongs don't make a right. Walking away was the weaker man's way out. He should have either (a) accepted FIDE's ruling, or (b) done something positive about it. That's the bottom line.
DrFrank, isnt this thread about what Fischer said? (i.e. chess is psychic merder, etc. etc) So I hypothesized why I think he said what he said. Why he liked to see his opponent squirm. Why he thought chess as domination and conquering. Why he put his ego on the line on outcome of a game. Why he said that the winner necessarily takes home with him his opponent's ego. And why he thought that the loser is diminished.
If a human being is stating something, there is always psychology involved. You should read some books on the subject. That way, you may get a girlfriend and get laid and chillax instead of being offensive to other people's opinions.
Having said this, I WAS rocking in my chair and picking my nose along with other things. Are you psychic?

1.Jewish Lifecycle book says that anyone who converts is just as Jewish as those who are born to it. So Sephardic Jews and Ashkanazim are just as Jewish as one another.
2.Agreed on Sephardic Jewish discrimination. It isn't right, but then again Israel is the most moral and enlightened country in the region. They gave charitable aid to Somalia (a Muslim country) and India. Jews and Palestinians attend college together. Palestinians meanwhile shell Jewish kindergartens.
3.Israel made great strides in computer and medical technology. Use Intel? Thank Israel. Use the other guy? Thank Intel too, they set the bar.
4.That's my contention with America too. The Zimmerman verdict made me so ashamed of America I switched off the USA icon near my name. The rightful people of America were unjustly killed off for their land, despite them helping the Pilgrims survive the winter. They'd even trade fake currency with them for land. Not even barrels of coins, they used beads and pretended that they were a legal currency! That was when they bothered trading instead of genociding.
Slavery is clearly wrong to modern people, but within the context of the 15th century people reasoned that the Africans, having a far less advanced civilization, were therefore stupid and could be used as slave labor. Again, slavery is wrong, but they couldn't have known back then. It should still be compensated for, and attitudes from the slave era still persists somewhat.
They didn't have Jared Diamond around back then to tell them the guns, germs, and steel theory that states races aren't inherently superior, only the resources of their environment make them appear that way. Asia and Europe had animals that were far easier to domesticate and the soil was better for extracting and using resources.

1. The point that I was trying to make was that the Jews who are occupying the "State of Israel" are claiming the right of return. Return to what? Israel is not their actual homeland. It is the homeland of the Sephardic Jews who are already living there and are being discriminated against by the Askenazi Jews.
2. Is it moral to seize land that does not belong to you and to imprison the Palestinians and discriminate against the Sephardics who are the true owners of the land?
3. One can say that the Nazis made great strides in technology. Our entire space program is based on the work of Werner Von Braun who was a believing member of the Nazi Party and who used slave labor in his laboratories and factories.
4. My statement about America is that while the Nazis did commit attrocities so did everyone else. This does not make it right but the Nazis are painted as being evil, they were merely doing the same things that were commonly done in Europe for hundreds of years. The Romans, for example, invaded lands, killed and enslaved people, and did all kinds of atrocities. Yet they are often presented as an admiral people. And Americans are continuing the tradition of evil.
As far as Zimmerman, it was obvious that from the moment he got out of his car he was looking for trouble and he should have been made to pay for it.
This is a honest question, why did he stop playing?
He wanted to retire to Iceland where he died.
