Anyone can do anything if they simply believe.

What if I believe I can't believe it!? Does it tear a hole is space time?

Haha! I sometimes hear this cliche that "you should just believe that you can do this or that and it will be true". It is such a bad thing to tell people.

"Dumb" needs a definition. An autistic person might appear "Dumb" to others, but they are often some of the most capabable people who can grasp things average people are unable to. They can be good at chess. But there is no reason to think Autism makes them "dumb".
People can be good at chess, a discipline, a specific field of knowledge, but at the same time they can remain ignorant about other areas of knowledge, life, etc.

Being smart doesn't mean you will be good at chess  but if you're stupid it's a pretty safe bet that you will suck at it.

I have a friend in his 60's who at one point was in the 1600's or Class B in the USCF.  He can't even read a chess book.   He doesn't know the difference between a King and a Queen in figurine notation.  Someone will tell him that they played the "English Opening" and he will start playing 1.c4 and then whatever moves he may come up with and think he is good at playing the English.   He can't hold a job because of his attention span and even has a family member controls his finances in a trust fund.

Having said that he has actually  drawn a couple of expert players and taken several scalps of Class A players over the board.  Even though Class B isn't extremely high most chess players never achieve it.

I was going to make a joke about the backyard professor but I don't believe he is dumb at all.

At least he can read a chess book and post Youtube videos.

Meh, I know I'm hard on the guy. He's probably close enough to the average person you'll run into anywhere.

So you choose the ONE sentence he said about the backyard professor to reply to? That shows the hate against professor. I don't have a side.

Yes. 8x8= I have no clue. I was 1981 Connecticut State Champion and had a resonable USCF rating of 2224.

Yes, I am bias against BYP because I find him incredibly annoying. Glaring errors + cocky attitude is very off-putting.

Probably no one likes that combination actually, it's just some must not notice the errors, so all they see is an enthusiastic guy.

Really? Top 40 hit from 1974, Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas:

Ohohoho
Ohohoho
Ohohoho
Ohohoho

Everybody was kung fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
But they fought with expert timing

There were funky Chinamen from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up, they were chopping them down
It's an ancient Chinese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip and a kicking from the hip

Everybody was kung fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening, yeah, yeah
But they fought with expert timing

There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said: "Here comes the big boss" (Where? Where?), "Let's get it on"
We took a bow and made a stand, started swaying with the hand
The sudden motion made me skip, now we're into a brand new trick

Everybody was kung fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
But they did it with expert timing

Oh yeah

Ohohoho (Hu!)
Ohohoho (Ha!)
Ohohoho (Hu!)
Ohohoho (Ha!)

Keep on, keep on, keep on, keep on
Sure enough

Everybody was kung fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
Make sure you have expert timing

Kung fu fighting
Had to be fast as lightning

Ohohoho (Hu!)
Ohohoho (Ha!)
Ohohoho (Hu!)
Ohohoho (Ha!)

Keep on, keep on, keep on
Yeah, yeah
Everybody was kung fu fighting

And I order chop suey quite often for dinner. It is very good.

He's not cocky he says himself that he's weak.
