Candidate master being the lowest title makes no sense.

I understand ur points but it just makes no sense why ur confused and why it should be renamed when its perfectly logical

I understand that CM is technically linguistically not a master, but most chess players refer to them as masters, so IMO to avoid confusion it should be renamed. I hope it's clear

NO, its not clear since there is absolutely NO CONFUSION. most chess players are wrong in this case (if what u say is true) since CM is not a master, what do you reccomend changing it too??

I already stated my opinion, and I know it won't change a thing btw, This whole forum won't change a thing, I am just sharing ideas and opinions. I believe candidate masters should be a description to those who are just bellow 2200+ fide, and then we would have another title replace the current candidate master title.

I KNOW WHAT CANDIDATE MEANS. Even if i didn't it's nothing to be embarrassed about.
I just didn't understand why call someone a candidate master when he's already widely regarded as a master. IMO candidate master should refer to experts

bruh, even after 4 pages 75 comments you still dont understand that candidate master is a candidate to be a master, not a master yet...

That's if we are talking purely from an English language perspective, but I guarantee 99% of chess players think that candidate master is a master. Master level is widely regarded as 2200+, even if it's not linguistically correct

well then the 99% of chess players are WRONG since for the billionth time, CM is NOT a master. I am pretty sure you dont decide what master level is regarded as, and you yourself say its not linguistically correct

I didn't decide on my own, the chess community collectively refer to master level as 2200+

that is not the chess commmunity, thats a stupid ai which 90% times says random things. https://www.chess.com/terms/candidate-master-chess for gods sake read this it says "Ranking below the titles of grandmaster, international master, and FIDE master is the CM title. As it suggests, the CM title is awarded to players who are strong candidates for becoming masters."

BRO this is the technical description of the term CM, doesn't mean anybody follows it, I want you to show me a group of ppl outside this discussion that go Oh im playing a CM this guy aint a master. If you watch any sort of chess content, or even like read reddit once a year or just follow the chess community in general, you would know master level usually refers to titled players or 2200+ fide level.

You dont need to teach me what a master is, I myself am a FM and know what it means. CM is a candidate to be a master PERIOD. I am pretty sure i read reddit every weak and watch every singe chess content thing

Yea sorry, but I don't believe ur an FM one bit, not being ignorant, but just being aware. Im sorry an FM at 13 shouldn't be 2150 bullet at all. Show me proof and I will beleive you, but for now this is a very fair take to me. If you really watch chess content, I can bring up a hikaru clip where he says his brother is master level, while his brother is 2200. That's just off the top of my head and theres probably much more

Do you know what experts mean? 2000+ but just bellow "master" level. It's not a real title, its just a reference to people of a certain level

Instead of expert it should be CM imo, and then we get another title to replace the current CM title. Hope that makes sense to you, at the end of the day nothing will change tho so don't get so heated

alright? are you geniunely STUPID? like literally? Hikaru saying on a random stream something does not mean anything, and btw I am a FM this is just a account for making friends and chatting, ask blackbelt, @1-0W anyone u want I am a FM i have sent evidence to them but trust me i dont need to prove a single thing to you, the only ignorant person who is arrogant stubborn with 0% logic here is you still not understanding CM IS NOT A MASTER!!!!!!!! i am 2900 blitz and 2800 bullet in my main acc but i dont need to prove it to you since i dont give a damn if u believe the reality. i could crush you 10-0 in my dreams

Ok you need to chill. You shouldn't expect anybody to believe a random guy on the internet with all due respect. A real FM (not saying ur not a real FM before u go on another rant) would understand my speculation since its very hard to believe. Didn't say you had to prove anything to me, I just said you shouldn't expect me to believe you, which is understandable from my part . As to the hikaru clip , it's just an example there's more videos, this is just the one that came to my mind first. U saying hikaru saying that on a random stream doesn't mean anything is just so funny. How do you want me to prove that master level usually refers to 2200+ players? It's just an unspoken rule Im sorry if u dont get it. What better way than the world no.2, best online player of all time probably saying that? What else am I supposed to do?

i know very well what that means, dont paste screenshots from google ai to prove a point. 2000 rated players are obviously are not "just below" master level though

2000-2200 is widely regarded as expert, which in the eyes of many (even if not factually true) is right bellow master level🫠 I understand what the technical definition is but nobody follows that;

How the hell do I sound weird?? This just makes sense. Have you ever seen someone refer to a CM as not a master in a casual sense?

YESS! absoulutely! when u say "nobody follows the real definition" that makes u sound weird

How is the truth wierd? Nobody follows the technical definition thats a valid statement that has happened with alot of things, where they have the objective definition , and the casual definition.
Neither are necessarily wrong.

@Patzer_FM Now you are showing your real face, this is what a 13 year old is capable of. Kids these days 🤣. You can just curse and abuse and I will ignore, let's play this game and mods can ban your account again 😂. Keep it up kiddo

I was not arguing instead you started the argument without any reason and now you are blaming me and disrespecting me, you don't have any right to disrespect me and my country kid, action will be taken accordingly.

Thank you gentlemen for exploring the nuances of the English language.

I think that this exchange has probably reached its useful limit.
