CARLSEN-ANAND WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DEBATE THREAD

  • #301

Well, my point is that you can be segregated or racist as you please, but I think Carlsen will win again because he is a better chess player.

    No, he won't.

How many of these threads are there? Can't there be just 1 Carlsen VS Anand 2014 thread?

  • #303

I still have not seen an answer to my question: Do people play darts in Norway? It originated in England or around England I think, but the question remains: Does Magnus Carlson play darts and does Viswanathan Anand play darts?

Carlsen is going to completely wipe the floor with Anand. 4-0 or at worst, 3-0 again.

People must realize that the champion is confronted by the player who came through the candidates. Just because Carlsen is winning, nobody has any right to insult Anand! I request those who post their comments in various threads insulting Anand, to respect a legend!

    Expect miracle!

Carlsen wins game 3, Carlsen wins game 3!!!

Um... yes, they do have a "right" to insult anybody they want to. And it's not as if Anand would care what some random person on the internet says about them.

well , the result is out and as predicted, carlsen has won.He is too solid and consistent.

IMO Anand had a great performance, and proved one again the self-evident: He is a tiger- probably a slightly aged one, but he really made Carlsen feel uncomfortable.

I think Carlsen was not at his very best- at certain cases it seemed to me being slightly lazy, ill, dunno what. Still, he won the match, simply because he was the one who made fewer mistakes, as Anand admitted after the match. But it was not easy at all, like the previous match: Black defintely had his chances to turn it over, but he did not have the stamina to demonstrate flawless play OTB.

    @pfren,

Can You please evaluate here idea behind Anand's Rb4.
I was astonished he did that, and could not see "great plan" behind it.

    Thanks.

I am not Anand, so you can take my comments with a fairly generous grain of salt.

Vishy envisioned ousting the d5 kight by ...Kb7 and ...c6, when he has access to white's weak queenside pawns (c4, a4).

The real problem with that plan is (as flawlessly demonstated by Magnus) white can create issues on the other flank by a timely f2-f4, when Black has no time to mop up the queenside.

Yes, but for his plan to work, Magnus had to make at least one mistake there, and I wanted to see where :)
