Cheaters

I am writing this post to inform something very serious about online live chess. Too many participants (honestly, I can't mention them with the word 'player') are using chess softwares, they are just copying the software move to the online interface. So, what is the purpose of all this effort? What is the difference of playing with the computer? We, true chess players and chess lovers are here to play with other good players, not for this kind of circus. I'm too much tired, and desperated because of this sadistic action of some people. I request the authorities of chess.com to place any mechanism, which will find and debar cheaters.

I agree, played some guy at 1800 a few days ago, was his first game and he played some ridiculous moves that I highly doubt humans would play.. just looked at his record now and he’s now 2300+ and hasn’t lost a game! Would put all my money on it that he was an engine user. Hopefully someone will report.

I sometimes wonder whether engine developers are test running some of their software as 'players' to try and benchmark their product.

Two things...

1. There is a mechanism in place to detect cheating.

2. Based on the number of times I was accused of cheating when I played here with a different account (now closed), I would say the vast majority of cases of alleged 'cheating' in live are a case of poor sportsmanship on the part of the accuser.

Sometimes you just have to admire the hard work some of these cheaters go through. Oh the ingenuity!!! Apparently, this guy had micro speakers hooked up.

If you really think your opponent has used an engine this link tells you how to report them.

However, if you're a non-titled player you should analyse the game with a computer first, as I suspect in most cases you'll find plenty of mistakes that suggest the moves were in fact being played by a human. (You might also learn how to play slightly bettter chess.)

That's why I prefer 5 minute blitz.  I suppose you could hardwire an engine inline to make your moves for you, but you don't have time to tell the engine what I did and wait for its response.  Over 2000 games on this site and not once have I felt I was being cheated on.

Totally agree with O P

This site is full of cheats. What is the point? They haven't won, a computer has. Why play?

I can see this site being shut down. The irony is this, they hate you pointing out the cheating but they don't stop the cheats

Are you sure they are cheating or are you just not able to play at a level above what your at currently and you just think they are cheating because they play better moves?

TL;DR
