Chess and the cold war

Most of us will have to endure about 200 colds in our lifetime, that amount to years of being sick.  Thus doctors, pharmaceutical companies, herbalists, and healers of all kinds have waged war on colds.

Can chess become a key part in being successful in our war on colds, and, if so, how?

maybe to calm and clear the mind? and if everything else fails, chess is always a great pastime for when you're at home sick :D

There's the Japanese saying "Idiots don't catch colds". In that case, lack of chess can be a good way of avoiding colds.
