Chess.com can and should do something about abandonments

again not on the app.

That's what you should be asking. Instead, you are asking chess.com to punish people who take some time to make their moves.

nope. that wasn't my suggestion. sorry.

No, no, no.

Disconnectors must be punished.  On other sites (which I won't name), an escape or disconnect counts as a forfeit.  What happens after a forfeit is at issue.  In OTB games, forfeits do not adjust rating points but count toward tournament points.  Chess.com, if they do not do so already, should treat this likewise.

i am beginning to think that people who take up chess are extremely intolerant. good time to quit a game i should never have learned.

Well, it used to be a game between gentlemen. But nowadays the community is full of snowflakes.

Also look at the chess book titles:

KILL/CRUSH/DESTROY THE [INSERT OPENING NAME HERE]

WIN WITH THE LONDON SYSTEM - NO LEARNING REQUIRED - LAZY AF

Everything has gone to shiitake.

Disconnections make it hard to play long time controls on this site.

Who on earth plays long time controls ONLINE? I don't get it.

I don’t really think disconnections are that big of an issue but I do play a lot of longer games. 30 minute games for work on calculation/visualization and 3 minute games for work on intuition.

Most of the games I play are very long time controls e. g. 3 or 5 days so I have time to take care of my kids, screw my wife, watch a movie or series on NFLX or amazon, eat, study GM games and be a general menace to society

I'm not talking about daily games which give you enough room to breath and live your life. I'm talking about people who play 30 min games.

Maybe once, or twice, someone left a game of blitz.  What did i do?  I waited...yea...I know...what a novel concept.

Once someone had there account closed 6-7 moves in on a Correspondance game.  Again...what did i do?  i waited...I know...I know...what a radical idea.  The things i come up with in my spare time.

Holy crap! How do you do this? Impressive! We have to make a thread about this to educate all members. They need to know this.

people have bad internet connection once they nearly lost their games.
NeilBerm

Yeah daily is technically the longest time control but I think it is too far removed from the flow of an actual game. I think the 30 minute games are much more similar to an otb game. I think that is also why the person that made this thread is having problems. It is harder for some people to sit and wait during a live game than to just go do something else and check back the next day.

Interesting thread.

You ARE speaking existentially?

i think the chesscom should do something about abandoned mints. that at least would be a good cause.
wydfuqnopn1

still new here but have had some abandonment's. doesn't this program have a pause button. sometimes you must step away and your opponent is cool with it...but no pause.
