Flirting with strangers online on a chess website is ridiculous. And obviously harassment is wrong. (I didn't read through the whole thread and don't know what the behavior actually was.)
But I have a converse question. Why do so many players here on chess.com have avatars of women in very skimpy outfits (bikinis, sexy little dresses, etc.)? Some of these players don't have a name in their profile, so I don't even know if they're female, but some do have female names. And even some of the (supposedly) real women have what are clearly stock photos of bikini models. I'm curious, what's the point of this? What do you hope to get from it?
I am very old now and I can remember the times when it was almost impossible to see women playing chess, and it was a topic amongst us men players. A typical weekend tournament of 50 players would have no women. I remember playing in a larger tournament of over 300 players, I walked around the hall and counted only 5 women players. So, women playing chess is still a novelty to me. But there are quite a few here.
