Can anyone beat wally the computer at 1800 without help???? He seems fricken impossible. That darn ginger........shock.png

It would be recommended to at least get close to an 1800 rating first... you are only 1000, so beating a bot with an estimated rating nearly 800 points above your own isn't something you should aim for.

Hey Steven,

I actually beat him last night, so yeah thanks for the advice u toad. I'm on to try to beat li now so i'll let you know when that happens. I'm trying to work my way up the line of bots, thanks for the disparaging remark should I just play the 800 computer so I don't get better or learn anything.

lrbooker23

honestly i respect Wally, he plays really well and isnt just focused on one piece at a time, he'll play knights with a queen instead of using only the knights which ive found annoying with other bots...despite my 800 rating ive gotten close to beating him a bunch of times just never gotten to where i need to be to do it...any idea on how to out positon his knights and rooks in the endgame? thanks

Wally's such a $#@!. I've probably played him a hundred times an won 3. The only advice I have is practice more and watch some you tube on it. If I could beat him regularly I'd be happy to share. If I figure somethng out I'll let you know. You can check my recent games I have one beating wally so you can watch that on my profile I believe. Maybe you can pick something up.

If it makes you feel any better, it took me about 200 tries to beat Wally, then I went on to beat the next five higher bots in a week. (https://www.chess.com/blog/GrunkleMike/dont-always-judge-your-play-by-computer-analysis)

Try doing this: Wally finds EVERYTHING, so use deception

After reading about Wally, I tried him out and got thoroughly trashed  playing white (London) 4 or 5 times in a row.  Not even close.   I then tried black (Czech Pirc) and beat him on the first try.   I have beaten Antonio and Isabel a few times, but overall I think Antonio is still better than me (but I am getting closer).    I haven't been able to analyze the losses yet, but hopefully I will find out where I went wrong with Wally and defeat him with white in due time.

Best of luck, I know he can be a pain.  If you wanna go to my home page an look at my recent games you might pick something up on beating him. I've beaten Li a couple times now I'm trying to beat Noam but that just seems impossible

MyNameIsNotBuddy

I beat him (along with Li) because they captured a poisoned pawn with their bishop. You can create poisoned pawns and they will probably take them. Just make sure they don't have a way to save the bishop.

Just be patient and keep trying and analyzing the games you lose.

It isn't that difficult to beat wally just be patient and stay focused.

I did beat Wally with white (London) a couple of days ago.   Not a great game -- I had a inaccuracy/blunder/mistake every 10th move or so!!  Chess: kemmrich vs Wally-Bot - 1171983 - Chess.com.   Chess.com still gave me a 92.9% accuracy rating which doesn't make much sense to me.  I have played Li a few times and I pretty much get slaughtered.  I've only beaten Wally 2 times out of ~10  and I can now beat Antonio probably 1 out of  3 or so.    I have beaten Isabel a couple of times, but most of the time she beats me too.  Li is the last one to beat in the "advanced" bots.
