Do you ever feel confident about your chess?

I remember I was 850s elo after a while of joining chess.com, was in 3 digit elo on chess.com for months and months and I used to think I was a complete chess idiot and I know barely anything about chess, and now when I am mid 1400s I think exactly the same thing.

I was wondering if you ever start to feel confident about your game?

Well to be honest, I don't really care for online rating. I'm just competitive. But I would say I started feeling confident when I drew an expert OTB awhile back. I think I was about 1500 or so...

I think it's less about your rating than about your accomplishments. So if you beat a 1700, then that's a reason to feel confident.

I have beaten a few 1800s, definitely one 1900 if not 2, and once drew a titled player. However I still think I am a total chess muppet. If I were ever to to 1800s (probably never happening), I will still in all likelihodo think I am a muppet.

Only in OTB games to I feel confident (and then when I have plenty of time on my clock)

I have beaten a 1800, 1400, and a 1200 player so I am pretty confident! (Sometimes! Lol)
