There's an extremely accurate rating system already in place. Anyone who wants to can see who the very best players are. Adding more titles never helps.

I petitioned fide to create a "Neighborhood GM" title. But they shot me down.

Yes, no need to be so offending to rooks and pawns. That would be breaking their safe space on the board. This is a no hate speech zone- or basically, if you say something I don't like, you must leave and be ostracized.

What do you do if there is rating inflation and suddenly there are 800 super GMs? Then you would need something else.
you can give the best players only a seperated title. like giving every player who becomes one of the 16 best players in the world, a SGM title....I am not sure they would be over the moon with this change but idk xP

Saying you played in the Candidates Tournament is impressive. Saying you won the Chess Olympiad is impressive. Saying that you were 2700 is impressive.
What on EARTH do we need something else for? Why this need to put the FIDE Seal of Approval on something! It’s dumb.

Why don't we just call them Guardians?
Above GMs only a single person can hold a title of being World Champion. Generally you hear GM Magnus Carlsen, but when you say World Champion Magnus Carlsen, then you don’t need to add GM in it. Cuz it’s already known. Now people will say WC is not like GM, NM or any other title....yeah but you see WC and GM both are titles and we all know which one is better so....

Yes, I was thinking why SGM and not UGB (Uber GM).
And, while we're at it, why are females called Masters? Shouldn't they be Mistresses? (Wait, I think they already exist - just a different "game.")

Whenever Ben Finegold refers to some past player that we are likely to be unfamiliar with, he always says something like “he was top 10 in the world” or “he was top 5 in the US” or “he was top 10, maybe, top 20 for sure” or “he was top 10 in the world but now is maybe top 100”.
This conveys all the information you need about how good the player was; indeed, it conveys more information than a useless stupid SGM title.
