Do you think humans will ever be as good as robots?

We were the ones who created them. How could we be worse than them?

War-Cat

There.are levels of easy-diffucut, so yes

FireInMyHeart

Humans will always be smarter than robots. WE created them!

FireInMyHeart

So they can't be smarter than us.

Robots aren't smarter. They are stronger and faster. That's enough to be scared of, feel inferior to robots. Imagine the Terminator with 64 cores and higher CPU and weaponized like Iron Man.

If you’re talking about Chess, then yes. Computers need to perform millions of calculations per second in order to beat humans at chess. Humans, on the other hand, have been known to simply make the right move or come up with the right answer without knowing how they did it. Ergo, they came up with the answer after zero number of calculations per second. They just did it. At this point in time, computers are better than humans at chess; however, it’s like those horse race games at the fair; one horse gets ahead, then the other gets ahead, then the other, etc. what’s important is who wins in the end. Technology in reading thoughts is well on its way, Google it. It’s only a matter of time before humans can slap electrodes on their heads close their eyes and make moves without moving a limb or finger. They will be able to move at a lightning quick pace, faster than a computer could ever move, because again they will simply move while the computer is still performing calculations.

Just like trains,  planes and automobiles.  They can't possibly be faster than humans who created them.

The last vestige of human intelligence - spamming.   We're in safe hands.

If you talk about Chess, the answer is No! The human chess champion will never beat the Computer chess champion!

Robots will always be better than us. As we get smarter, so do they. As we find glitches, they get fixed.

post 11 you can pour water on a human chess player it may put them off the game but do the same to a chess engine and it will go fzzzztbang , know your foes weaknesses and dont make robots waterproof and we should be ok

Robots should use batteries lasting a few hours only. They would be dependent on humans for recharging. Don't ever manufacture Robocops who knows to self recharge.

Before Deep Blue, the question was "will computer ever be as good as human?"

That was true in old traditional engine.

It is not true anymore to Neural Networks.

For human knowledge, we can see human performance in bullet / hyper bullet/ ultrabullet where there is literally no time to calculate.

For chess engine knowlege, we can test with Depth 1 ( testing engine intrincic knowledge without millions of calculation).

Stockfish depth 1 is approx -1000 to 1200 elo.

Leela depth 1 is approx -2200 to 2300 elo.

Leela is way smarter than all human and she can play even NM level without a single calculation.  Meanwhile, for estimate of your elo level of knowledge without calculation, take -700 to -1000 from your current elo.

bong711

Leela at depth 1 is 2200 - 2300? Anyone can be Bullet Master if one trains sparring with Leela. What is the GTX card used for Leela to perform at NM level in Depth 1?

You can use any cpu, to run depth 1, cos it doesnt not need to search. Just download latest T60 nets and try yourself.

It all depends on how good the robot has been programmed. With AI getting more advanced it will continue to get more difficult.

The original question was poorly phrased and thought out. "As good as" means nothing. Will top players ever beat Alpha Zero at chess? NO! Will top weightlifters ever beat a forklift? NO! Will Usain Bolt outrun a Tesla? NO!

A better question might be: "Will robots ever be able to replicate a human being's creativity, spontaneity, flexibility, humor, consciousness, friendship, sorrow, joy, etc.?" So far the answer is a resounding NO. And will likely to be that far into the future.

Robots are tools. We created them because there are things they do much much better than we do; otherwise, what's the point of having them? The greatest chess players now do not use Houdini, Stockfish, and Alpha Zero to play against; they use them for preparation and for learning things about chess they never thought of. The only seriously contended games in the AI universe are against each other.
