Does your mood affects how you play? Sometimes I just lose a lot of game because I can't concentrate

Out of your last 12 games, you have won 2, lost 9 and drew 1, take some rest bro @darkac4d3mia , stop tilting my man

I don't think it's mood, but more I don't want to out the work in. I was on cycle 2 of the wood pecker method. I had to do 50 tactics a day, and after a couple of days I realized I don't want to do 50 tactics a day. So I went from 1000 tactics over 6 week, to 500 tactics ovrt 4 weeks. This way I avoid having to do that many until I get to the third cycle.

Losing is a badge of honor. I set a new record of losing ten in a row few days ago. Now I'm in hog heaven going through them in my feeble attempt to 'do my own analysis' but at least I'm doing them. I make so many mistakes that my current list for ONE game is 14 lines long. And I could not be happier. USE your losses. Most folks skip their own review. They instead look at the ChessDotCom Review and that's all.

ANALOGY FOLLOWS ...

I was told a parable once of a wise man and one of his students said, "Master, when someone compliments you, you give a simple 'thank you' but when someone says you are 'disgusting, evil, vile etc' then you pull them aside gently and say, "Oh please DO tell me more. How do you see me? I truly want to hear everything you have to say."

The student continued, "WHY? WHY do you want to hear all the negative?" The wise man, being wise said, "the compliment is nice but those that speak their truth give me a view into myself that I cannot see. They allow me to peek into my soul and find the REAL TREASURES."

In chess, the treasures are in the losses (in my opinion only).

Of course it does. Emotional distress affects concentration. All cognitive functioning, from job and academic performance to performance on cognitive tasks in the laboratory, are impacted by mood.

I just want to win back my loses but I always end up making it worse, I feel like I already lost my chess skills.

Please clarify ... what is the "let him cook" at the end? I didn't type that and it's within my quote.

Play at peak times.

life stress, even if you are not stressed about a particular thing at the moment of play absolutely ruins your ability to play well, its like the neurons and the ability to see patterns really slow down . That's why sometimes, if a tournament is scheduled in a time of great pointless stress (say trying to sanwhich an event between two school paper deadlines), i simply dont go as i will play badly.

mood effects from poor sleep is also a killer. Unfortunately, i cannot sleep well anymore in chess tournament nights (esp if outside my home state), the adrenaline after games means i wont sleep. And anything i take for sleep either doesnt work at all, or leaves me possibly worse from grogginess the next day.
