How can white avoid three move repetition if he can't stop the continual checks? Eventually some position will be repeated 3 times.
draw?
i thought 3 move repitition was something like 1.Nf3 Nf6 2.Ng1 Ng8 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.Ng1 Ng8 etcetc that kind of thing. Well thanks for answering my question then.
KingOfCheckmates, that is one example of how a three-fold repetition could occur.
Note that the rule does not refer to a repetition of moves, but a repetition of positions. If the same position occurs 3 times, the game can be claimed drawn.
KingOfCheckmates, I'm not sure you're allowed to ask on the forums if a game would be drawn if you made a particular move in an ongoing Online Chess game.
SensFan33, I appreciate that you have told me this, but I don't think I was asking for help on a chess game, but more for info for chess in general. I could have easily used a position such as:
and asked a similar question, but I decided to use a position from one of my own games because I was too...lazy to come up with a position of my own where a king cannot escape endless checks (yes, I did spend time trying to come up with the diagram to the left, and struggled to because I'm not very good at that and as a result came up with a very rare/strange position.)
And about what you mentioned about 'asking what would happen after I make a particular move', which I assume you meant what the opponents move would be after I make a certain move, I didn't really ask that question, but asked more along the lines of 'If these moves were played, would they make it possible for someone to claim a draw?' Which is quite different.

Not quite

Not quite
which was part of my point
Here's a position:
If white plays gxf3 and black plays Qxf3 and keeps on checking the king after, would it be a draw? because i dont think white can stop the continous checks. But white can still avoid the 3 move repitition rule, right?
