Looks like a bit of Soviet mentality.
Dubov hits back at accusations of betrayal
its kind of heartbreaking that dubov gets treated this poorly, sergei lost my respect for that :/
Back in the days of the ole USSR, it was a lot worse. And honestly he wouldn't even have been allowed to help Carlsen. They banned Korchnoi from playing anywhere expect mother russiafor a time. And how they used his wife and son during his matches with karpov. They punished Taimanov from performing for a couple years. He was a concert level pianist. Just a couple of examples.

thats why i am kind of glad in modern times dubov had somewhat more freedom ;-;
Yeah, looking for blame.
Nepo's performance was so bad the coach is to blame also
So blame others before the blame lands on you
The idea its Dubovs fault is hilarious....Russia has team, but if it werent for Dubov.
BTW, what was Sergey's contribution? His presence?
If some members of the Russian national team don't like one of their teammates helping someone defeat another member of their team, so what? A lot of teams, coaches and players subscribe to the "all for one and one for all" ethos. Sometimes players are expected to "take one for the team" and subordinate their individual goals to the team's success. I personally don't think it applies in this case, but if other Russian team members feel uncomfortable with a teammate that doesn't go all out to support his other teammates, that's their right.

When Norway's Magnus Carlsen clinched victory over Russia's Ian Nepomniachtchi it was revealed that Russian Grandmsaster Daniil Dubov had once again been a key part of the World Chess Champion’s team of helpers. That saw instant criticism led by Sergey Karjakin, with Sergey Shipov adding that Dubov would “rightly” now never play for the Russian team again. Daniil has hit back, attacking the mentality that treats an individual event as a team event and pointing out he began working for Magnus before the winner of the Candidates was known.
