Maybe AndyClifton is suggesting that KCO was an actor in the 1980's Australian series Patrol Boat? Laughing

I'd just like to remind everyone that you can still enter. Just leave a comment saying why you need/want a coach. :)

If B class players are charging $30. an hour for lessons these days what are titled players charging ?!  Undecided

I have been a sucessful poker player all my life.  I enjoy it as a hobby, but it would be a very hard way to earn a living.  I can't make minium wages playing poker and the working conditions are terrible.  Also it certainly is not income tax free and the IRS rules are harsh.

Rex, what are you charging these days?  And do you think you could make me a National Master by Summer?

When I last taught I was charging $20. an hour for private lessons , havent taught in several years now.  If class players are charging, and getting, more then I am obviously behind the times....

What can a B class player teach an NM about chess ?

Are the lessons still available? I would love the chance to try some coaching. I've played quite a number of games on here but not really improving. Need some advice to point me in the right direction.

cheers

Yup, just leave a comment saying why you need/want a coach. :)

I think that pretty much says it, I'm a player who isn't particularly improving. I'm very interested in improving and take criticism and instruction well. I would want it most to see how I can elevate my game to the next level. Besides that, I only know the bare basics, so I imagine teaching me something new won't be particularly hard ;).

Any chess players would benefit from studying Go.  First it is more interesting than chess, has real world application, and the game is far deeper than chess can ever be.  So the best coaching in my opinion would be to study Go life and death problems, actual games, opening strategies and what the pieces mean in this abstract game.  By the way, any study of Go is worth $$$ in a world where everything is domesticated.  Typical chess psychology doesnt work anymore due to all the laws and regulations not to mention the dishonesty in a functioning mass population.

I went to a Mindsports event once and the instructor said that in some Asian countries military generals are taught Go as part of their training.

Go is huge in Asia. There is a 24 7 Go channel in Sth Korea. As some of us joke it's better than a Stop channel.
