So does anyone know how the chess.com analyzer defines a "mistake" and how it defines an "inaccuracy?"
From what I have seen, an innacuracy usually only causes a loss of positional value, usually <3.0 points. A mistake usually means the loss of pawn or more, value of >4.0 points.
Obviously, a Blunder means loss of a full piece or more, or loss of game. I may have those values off, but that's the general reasoning I believe.
Hi,
Can someone explain what the plus (+) symbol in the notation of the analysis mean?
Thank you kindly.
A mistake is when you blunder an instantly winning move or you blow away or give away your chances of scoring well, to a certain degree. The severity of the inaccuracies determines whether it was a blunder, a generic mistake or a less relevant inconsistency.
When made in an equal position:
inaccuracy - all 3 results still possible, but subsequent moves will have to be more accurate than otherwise. Example: you lost a small amount of activity, space, pressure, defense, etc.
mistake - No longer have winning chances with best play, but you still have at least practical drawing chances. Example: you lost a somewhat unimportant pawn.
blunder - No longer have winning or drawing chances with best play. Objectively the position is lost. Example: you lost a piece.
