just turn on hardware acceleration in chrome settings and your problem will be fixed. the reason its spiking cpu usage is because with hardware accel off it forces chrome to use the cpu to do heavy things. turning it on will move it to your gpu.
Did, did you guys read the post. I already resolved the issue. I got a new computer and the issue has not persisted

It solved it for me when i had this issue

Gid, I think that restarting your computer was a good starting point and perhaps contacting Lenovo about this issue. I have never heard of this before, so might just need a few hard reboots.

God forbid someone wants to learn something new today. Props to TheVirtual2 for answering the question without being a complete jerk about it.
I have this issue now, since 2-3 days -- as soon as I open a chess.c*m tab CPU goes to 100%.
Regular c.c. user, I never had this problem before.
I do have "beta" activated, maybe thy added a new feature which is still buggy? any others experience this? Thanks in advance!
this might sound weird but the reason for this happening is because your piece animation is set to arcade i had this exact problem and realized it after turning off arcade.
It's cool that we know what caused the issue. We must have hit the jackpot of bad luck as this is a very infrequent issue xD
