How do you win rook vs rook endgame??

Just an example board. But what is the general idea here? Is this a forced draw or is it possible?

if you’re opponent and you play perfect then it’s a draw

You can flag your opponent. It’s very sportsmanlike. Everybody will love you for that.

I wish I could answer but I remember that @LieutenantFrankColumbo mentioned once in another thread (that I can't now find) how using a 'W' maneuver can be used. I have it saved here in my thousands of saved chess things and can't find it at the moment.

My newb perception is that the King has to be maneuvered to its own color corner. But maybe that was a different thread entirely. There is so much to learn. Anyway, I hope this kicks it to the front so it can receive even more attention.

It's a draw...

Unless your opp blunders a skewer, absolutely nothing can be done.

I think that the "W" maneuver is for N&B, not for rook endgame

@iPlayChess610 thank you for the correction, much appreciated!

@LieutenantFrankColumbo I meant no disrespect.

Step 1 = Make a lot of safe premoves in a row shuffling your king around your rook

Step 2 = Wait until they start premoving back

Step 3 = Deliberately hang your rook so it's attacking his rook (make sure you premove this)

Step 4 = The opponent will premove back and will hang his rook

Step 5 = Take rook and mate before you flag

Why would 'others' love you for flagging someone you're playing? That doesn't make sense, does it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's this very cool new thing called sarcasm

Oh yes, I've heard of it. It's usually followed by an emoji to make the humor obvious. Emoji-less text responses is how wars are started. But thank you for specifying it for us. I'm a bit back-room when it comes to some social media techniques. :-)

Modern nonsense. It won't stay for long.

I tried, but the king wouldn't let me rook his rook. Probably jealous.
Anyway, I understand and accept that it's not winnable, unless someone blunders.

It happens in tournaments. In almost every round in every Titled Tuesday there's some wise guy who tries to win this.

Nowadays, with no increment it's semi-okay, but back in the increment days it was a pure waste of time of thousands of players who were waiting for the next round to start.

I’m not good with that emoji thing. Btw my teammate flagged me in exactly the same situation in 10+0 OTB tournament. He probably even didn’t need full point to win the tournament . Later he excused me, but not immediately so I was really disappointed.

There is a little button there to press for emojis.
And I think nothing is wrong with flagging you, it's part of the game. Time management is very important for situations like that.

Yes, flagging is the part of the game. In online blitz it’s definitely common to flag opponents in K+R vs K+R but in OTB rapid i would not do that to my friend.
