Yeah, a lot of people get this. It used to be very bad when I was young. It improved once I grew up a bit and realised losing a game wasn't the end of the world, but I still choke in occasional games.

Try to talk to your figures. You will not play the game, but the figures will, so there is no reason to get nervous. Ask your figures if they are happy, if they like where they are. For example, ask if the knight is happy with his square, or if he would like to go to a better place. Or if the King is nervous and if he need help from other figures. You are the director or general of your figures, but you get less nervous because you are only asking and giving advices, the figures are responsible for the final result of the game. Try this in slow games and let me know what happened.

There is some thrill in playing chess, which is probably why you get nervous too.

I am just like you, not in normal games or online games but in tournaments I am crazy with my nerves, I think after you played a lot of tournaments it happens less and less but another good trick is to count to 10 controling your breathing, and its really fast

I also get rather nervous, I sweat a lot, even playing online. But to be too relaxed means you are not focus enough. You need some adrenaline in your blood to stay alert.

The thing is: is somebody is too nervous it is perhaps because he wants to win in any case, in all games. I also want to win, but I accept the fact that I will sometimes lose against  weaker players than me. (as I will sometimes win against people much stronger than me).

If you accept losing as part of the process to getting better in chess you will also stay calmer in your games.

This happens because the experience we had in losing completely winning positions. Check one of my daily games against paatzerboy. I was losing, one piece down, and my opponent did an unbelievable mistake, losing the queen for a rook, I think I win now win the game, but I am not sure.

It is cheating to ask from people to look at game in progress and tell you their opinion even if that is just an evaluation.

You must decide yourself if you are winning or not and play accordingly.

Cheating to look a game in progress: this is funny. The game is available to everybody. You are only cheating if you analyse the game with an engine or if you ask people for advices. By the way, the game is over, as I thought, stressing even more how ridiculous your accusations are.

Or can be you are so concerned about cheating because you using an engine in your games. If this is true: remember, not everybody is trying to push the rating here with illegal methods as you are doing.

And now tell how does it feel to be accused of cheating, hmm? Not so good, right?

And again another post by DSkye which contains a negative and destructive component. Try once something else to surprise us! Try once to be polite and constructive and to stay with the facts.

It is not my fault if you are unable to fully comprehend what cheating is.

Asking for others to evaluate the position of a game in progress is cheating.

If the guy retrurns and says something like " you are right , he blundered and now you are winning" then you cheated because another player said his opinion for the position.

His opinion might be actually wrong. He might mislead you , he might even make you lose because of over-confidence. But all these are irrelevant. What matters is that you must not get any kind of external help in your game ,either good or bad .

If I have a guy telling me when I have a better position and when not , isn't that cheating?

It is funny how your brain works, really! I NEVER asked anybody the opinion about one of my games, I just pointed out that I lost a piece against a guy in a certain game, and turned the game to a win. I didn't ask any opinion. Don't be ridiculous, and begin to read what people really wrote instead of interpreting things. FDP

You started a discussion for a game in progress. If a naive guy comments on it then that is cheating.

I never said that you did it intentionally , I only said that discussing about a game in progress might lead in situations that might be called cheating although you had no such intention.

Here is an example: If I say that " guys, I have an isolated pawn in one of my games and I think I am better" and another user answers "you must try to attack k-side and avoid exchanges" , I am cheating although I never asked from anyone to say his opinion about my game. My action caused a reaction and the reaction is a comment I can use to my benefit.

I thought it was a simple thing to understand  but seems I greatly overestimated you.

Ask any moderator and he will tell you that discussing for games in progress is not allowed under any circumstances because it is like indirectly asking for help. Again, I am not saying you are doing it intentionally. Still , the result will be the same if one answers. You will get help(good or bad , is irrelevant) for an on-going game. The definition of cheating.

I agree that DSkye's attitude is very condescending and negative, however I have to say that he is correct in this particular case...

Okay, you are right, in the case that somebody would comment it I could get an advantage. I will avoid it in the future.

I got it. I didn't expect that this would be a problem, as the game was definitively over aver my opponent lost his queen for not enough compensation.
