Thanks. I still think chess.com is a great website, and I can imagine to come back after one or two years.

My main problem is that I didn’t reach my goals here. I was excited with the idea of having a study group to learn chess. This didn’t work after several attempts (clubs).

It is a similar thing like in tennis. I usually like very much not only to compete but also to train and improve. In all the years I am playing tennis (since 1979 or 1980) I had only very few friends to train seriously (to be exact only two!). This means that in the times I hadn’t a partner I played against a wall. I think that are not many people in the world who played so many hours against a wall.

In tennis I won a couple of tournaments and was several times club champion. In chess I am a little bit more than a beginner.

A pity that we don’t have a kind of tennis wall in chess.

Puzzle Rush is pretty close. Solve the easy puzzles 1000 times and the patterns will become engrained in your memory.

No it does not help. Weak players need slow tactics organized by themes.

I think you can organise puzzle rush puzzles into themes when you are training - would that be the same thing?

I know that I have improved and am improving through solving untimed tactics organized by theme. Timed tactics just build bad habits in noobs like us.

Is that on chess.com?  Maybe that's where I'm going wrong lol - I keep trying to improve my puzzle rush score.  I thought it was the same thing?

I prefer ct art and other chess king apps for tactics. Also Chessable in my view the best place for learning chess if you have the time , money and want to self study.

OK, I will give a try with 1000 rush puzzles

Exactly, here is the place to tell things.

Honestly, your original post, I thought you was being sarcastic. I don’t think you should pack it up if you’re having a tough time.

Not a tough time. The main reason is to have more free Time for other things, hobbies and work. Not really easy for me to stop playing here, but I think it is the right decision. I can imagine coming back after one or two years.
