If someone kindly explain to me the difference between Resign, checkmate, abandoned, and timeout in relation to the game status and points. As I’m struggling to understand why players let the time run out or just disconnect from the game!.
Also, I received a couple of messages from support stating they detected someone cheating .. etc. anyone can explain how players cheat here? As it defeat the purpose of playing chess .. I usually use my iPad for playing chess …

Resign is when a player manually gives up the game. The player believes the position is lost.

Checkmate means that the king is attacked and has no legal moves. When a checkmate happens, the game is objectively finished.

Timeout happens when a player’s clock reaches zero. When this happens, the opponent gets a win.

Abandoned means that the player disconnects or leaves the game. This happens when Internet drops, app closes, or player rage-quits.

Some players just let their clock run out of just disconnect because of Emotional reactions (ego, frustration), Lack of discipline, and sometimes when Hoping for a miracle disconnect of the opponent

A player can cheat by using a chess engine(stockfish, komodo etc), receiving help from another person, or using multiple accounts to manipulate rating.

Hope this helps

The ELO(rating) thing

It just shows your level in numbers

Like for example

A ~500 or less player is new to chess and is learning to move pieces

A ~700-1000 player is a beginner

A ~1200 player is an intermediate player

A ~1600 player is advanced

And so on

If you win a game you will gain ELO based on the opponent rating and of you lose a game, you will lose ELO based on opponent rating

What do you mean by STATUS?

I think you are referring to membership

Membership just gives you use of some tools or whatever

Like Gold offers unlimited lessons and puzzles(not sure about this one)

Platinum offers unlimited game review and everything that is offered by gold

Diamond lets you use all the features of platinum along with some additional features like Insights

I was playing a game and after I finished it, a thought came to my mind, “How can I mentain my pawn structure so that I can play comfortably?” This is a frequently asked question about which I have asked many players, including titled players. Everyone's advice was useful and i improved a lot but I still feel uneasy while moving my pawns.

So I wanna know what you think about this!

As an aside, pawns are the secret rulers of the game. Check out Chess Structures by Rios. It's a difficult read but well worth every cent. :-)
